Preventive Care

How often should my pet have a wellness exam?
For healthy adult dogs and cats, we generally recommend a wellness exam once a year. Puppies and kittens benefit from more frequent visits during their first few months to complete their vaccination series and monitor their development. Senior pets, typically seven years and older, benefit from twice-yearly exams to catch age-related changes early.
What vaccines does my pet need in Mission?
Core vaccines for dogs include protection against distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, and rabies. Core vaccines for cats include feline herpesvirus, calicivirus, panleukopenia, and rabies. Lifestyle vaccines vary based on your pet’s environment and activities, and our team will assess the right schedule at your first wellness visit. Call us at (604) 826-8456 to book.
How do I protect my pet from parasites in Mission?
Fleas and ticks are present in Mission and the Fraser Valley throughout much of the year, and year-round prevention is recommended for dogs and cats who spend time outdoors. Intestinal parasites are common in pets of all ages, and routine screening and deworming are part of our standard preventive care approach. Giardia can also be a concern for pets who drink from outdoor water sources in BC. Our team will recommend a prevention plan suited to your pet’s lifestyle at their next visit.
